Hakea Women’s Remand and Reintegration Facility

SCG was engaged by ADCO Construction to provide specialist security consultancy services as a custodial advisor for the Women’s Re-integration and Remand Facility being constructed at Hakea Prison.

The project included the construction of a new gatehouse in the line of the existing perimeter and across the existing Perimeter Detection and Surveillance Systems. The project also included the construction of a new:
• Visits Building
• Health Building
• Prisoner Reception
• Administration Building
• Maintenance and Kitchen Building

SCG’s role was to provide ADCO with advice regarding the sequencing of works and the processes required to obtain client approval of work method statement and to assist in the testing, commissioning and final sign-off of the works.

Belmont Police Station

SCG was engaged by Building Management and Works (BMW) to undertake a review of the CCTV system at the Belmont Police Station.

The review would provide BMW and Western Australia Police (WAPOL) with an understanding of the current CCTV system at the station focusing on three key areas, which would include:

  • Technical Review of the installed systems from an obsolesces and equipment life cycle perspective
  • Performance Review to assess the operation of the system and quality of the existing camera views. This would include assessment of general system operation (i.e. history and fault logs) and review of the image quality and performance of the existing camera views (i.e. camera by camera commentary)
  • Coverage Review to assess the extent of the existing CCTV camera coverage for compliance with the current WAPOL Building Code.

Hakea Prison

SCG was engaged to work with Cox Howlett + Bailey Woodland and the Department of Corrective Services to document the interface between the various security systems and the operational response for the independent operation of the existing Hakea Prison (Hakea A) and the newly developed Women’s Precinct (Hakea B).

Capricornia Correctional Centre

SCG has been engaged by the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works, on behalf of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, to implement a program of works to address obsolescence issues with perimeter electronic security systems and associated electrical systems in order to enhance safety and security, and to extend the useable life of Capricornia Correctional Facility. This includes detailed design and oversight of the implementation in a live operational environment.
