In addition to the security planning services, SCG team members completed the design and documentation of the security and communications systems, leading to the award of the security contract within 5 months from initial engagement.

SCG team members also undertook the security risk assessment and security concept planning for the largest retail facility in the world by gross area.

Located adjacent to the world’s tallest skyscraper – The Burj Dubai, The Dubai Mall comprises a hypermarket, furniture mall, 21-screen cinema complex, an ice skating rink, a fine foods market, an area dedicated to haute couture fashion retailers and the Gold Souk consisting of hundreds of stalls dedicated to selling gold and gold jewellery.

The Dubai Mall also houses the world’s largest aquarium at the centre of the mall with viewing travelators.

HMAS Penguin Program of Works

SCG team members undertook the role of Lead SCEC Security Consultant for the $72million dollar redevelopment of the HMAS Penguin facilities, at both the main facility located at Middle Head and the Pittwater Annexe.

The project involved the redevelopment of the Royal Australian Navy Diving School facilities at the HMAS Penguin Mosman and Pittwater Annexe sites.

The existing facilities were outdated and two new training facilities were designed as well as refurbishment of the existing heritage buildings.

Additional works included a new main entrance, Security Control room, upgrade of the Base Infrastructure and replacement of the existing Type 1 SAS base wide.

Department of Immigration and Border Protection

SCG was engaged by Department of Immigration and Border Protection to undertake a strategic review of current security infrastructure at selected Immigration Detention Facilities and make recommendations to improve capability for the management of high risk detainees.

The SCG team brought to this project a strong ability to benchmark designs and differing operational requirements across correctional institutions throughout Australia and overseas.  This includes projects in the juvenile system, adult male and female facilities, forensic mental health, immigration centres and across all security and classification levels.
