Movember has drawn to a close for another year and the SCG staff members who took part by growing a moustache have reverted to their usual clean-shaven state. We’re ecstatic to announce that with the help of our industry partners and colleagues, and SCG matching donations, we raised a grand total of $17,726! Your generosity meant that we far exceeded our 2020 total of $10,000 and had some fun along the way.
Thank you to all who supported our annual fundraiser – all donations are used by the Movember Foundation for global men’s health initiatives in the areas of mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Movember is also an opportunity to raise awareness and promote discussions about these health issues, especially mental health, which has in the past tended to have stigma associated with it.
Times have changed and these days mental health is about wellness rather than illness. Talking about distress, anger or worries with a friend, family member or your doctor is a good first step to addressing problems and seeking support early is generally associated with a better long-term quality of life for those experiencing issues. Over half of Australians will experience a mental health issue during their lifetime, so you are by no means alone if you need to talk to someone.*
As the Movember Foundation says: “Our fathers, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis, yet it’s rarely talked about. Men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent.”
It’s not too late to donate and it takes less than a minute. DONATE HERE.
